Cloudbrand is now Sharebrand

When we launched Cloudbrand, we built it because we couldn't find a branded file sharing solution. We had used Box, Dropbox, WeTransfer, pCloud, and more—but all of them had one issue: they weren't brand-focused.

As a small agency and consulting business, we wanted more than ever to appear professional when we delivered a design to a client. We wanted to present them with a clean and well-presented page with our name, our logo, and allow the client to download it with ease. But we couldn't find that.

Dropbox was fine, but we missed something—we couldn't find ourselves in the sharing experience. So we built Cloudbrand. Not to replace Dropbox (we technically can't), but to serve a small niche of businesses who, like us, cared about their brand.

Fast forward: we got a lot of praise on launch, but many expected us to come with the last-word wonder with everything Dropbox has—mobile or desktop apps, sync with device pictures, a consumer-oriented cloud storage app with business features, and other complicated features we're taught to think are necessary.

But we weren't for that. That wasn't our intention. We were focused on solving something that some of our users weren't even aware of. It's different—we weren't a consumer app. We weren't for syncing your selfies, pictures of your beautiful dogs or cats, or your last trip to Vegas.

No, we don't solve this with Sharebrand. And honestly, Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud, etc., solve this and solve it very well. We don't argue or want to go there.

We were also not focused on large enterprises that everyone on earth already knows (even the extraterrestrials or aliens 👽) because no one cares about the name of a big agency, big tech company, or big multinational. They're focused more on military-grade security for their competitors who also have unlimited resources, or complex workflows that include sharing files to hundreds of stakeholders who pay hundreds of thousands monthly for enterprise software to share files.

We weren't working for those either. Not for individual consumers, not for big teams. But we were focused on small and medium teams, freelancers, small law firms, consulting businesses, advisors, or any other small client-facing business where, more than ever, security and branding matter.

So we decided to evolve and focus on that particular market. We are a brand-first file sharing service for small and medium teams. We help them share files (not necessarily store them) under their own brand.

We're not a pure 100% cloud storage app. Who needs a branded cloud storage app? It's not what our target clientele wants. They want a branded file sharing app. So we decided, a year after launch, to rename the service to Sharebrand—which has two more focused words on what we want: "Share" files under your "brand."

And this is why Cloudbrand is now Sharebrand

As part of our reorganizational focus, Sharebrand joined Tarkle as a product, part of the Tarkle family. Previously, Cloudbrand was a separate entity. Now, with a unified infrastructure, we're able to ship more features our clients really want. In the next months, we'll share more about what to expect from Sharebrand.

So anywhere Cloudbrand was expected to be seen, over the next months, it will be changed to Sharebrand.

Also, every rebranding costs money, so we're simplifying our pricing to offer 2 simple plans affordable for every team who shares files a lot but also cares about their budget. We no longer offer a free plan, but all plans come with a 14-day trial where you can test Sharebrand and see if we're a fit.

We're also launching file masking, allowing you to keep your files stored at your current storage provider and just use Sharebrand's infrastructure to share files branded. You'll just add the link of your files stored elsewhere, and Sharebrand will generate a unique, small, and friendly sharing link under your name and domain. Your clients and team won't even notice where the files are stored.

This allows you to offer the branded file experience to your clients while also keeping your files stored where you likely already trust. It's a win-win, just for you.
